New NYU ID card

This sucks... for me anyway. Since I'm no longer a student, I can't get one of these new cards and I'm not gonna be able to use my old card anymore (for getting a free ride on the NYU buses, for example). Whatever..I'm leaving NY tomorrow anyway...and I'll still be able to use my ID to get student discounts at movie theaters in Miami (no expiration date on it--hahah I'll be using that thing until I'm 30-something)...
ok gotta go pack up all my stuff...havent even made a dent yet

-Ha..look at the name on the card on the NYU page..Clancy Wiggum???

Bonus link--check out this video of some guy who set up his bike to write "I love New York" with spray paint on the sidewalk as he rides along.

Flan Recipe

I was cleaning out my email's inbox and ran into this old email which made me start craving something sweet.

It's my grandmother's recipe, emailed to me by my sister (I cleaned up the instructions my sis wrote):

Flan:

7 eggs
sugar (to be melted--use enough to cover the bottom of the flan bowl you will be using)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cans evaporated milk
1 can leche condensada
a pinch of cinnamon

--Cook some sugar until it turns into a brown liquid (or top part of the double boiler) you will cook the flan in, making sure you move the bowl around to spread the liquid. Do this quickly, because it hardens as it cools. Let it sit for a while as you mix together the other ingredients. Add more sugar if the mix doesn't taste sweet enough. Pour the mix into your flan bowl or double boiler and cook it "Baño Maria" style (meaning the bowl with the flan will cook in/on top of a pan of boiling water), for about an hour, or until it has fully cooked. Let it cool completely (you can stick it in the fridge) before flipping it over and letting the flan out, or it will break!

More commercials I hate

I found this site, "Ad Report card" which has articles about different TV ads. They also usually link to a video of the commercial they're talking about, in case you haven't seen it or don't remember it.

I see I'm not the only one grossed out by this ad:
"The spot: An obese man is tending a barbecue grill. He's cooking some Ball Park Franks. He says he likes his hot dogs "girthy." He keeps repeating that word—claiming he likes "the way it rolls off my tongue"—as he holds the frank up to his mouth; issues a guttural moan; and wraps his lips around the big, swinging dog. In all, he says "girthy" a full seven times."

Click here for the full article with video.

They also have an article on the Lamisil commercial where "Digger the dermatophyte" lifts up a toenail. ugghhh..They also have the video if you really want to see it...It's been playing on TV again recently, and I still cringe every time I see it

More pictures from Found Photos

-- I'm not quite sure what the photographer was going for here. Is this just some pseudo-arsty self-portrait...Crying, with dog. Reminds me of:

"That piece is entitled "Mirror, Father, Mirror." I like to show it to people I'm meeting for the first time because I feel it says so much about who I am and what it feels like to inhabit my specific skin."

-- Interesting --two pickles on two slices of bread in a lap of someone sitting in their car Deep. Very deep.
